This product complies with the European EN 13432 certification or “OK compost INDUSTRIAL”, which requires the compostable plastic to disintegrate after 12 weeks and completely biodegrade after six months, in industrial composting conditions. Industrial composting is not widely accessible in the UK, however this does not mean that these items can not be home composted.
For a product to be labeled as home compostable, it must meet the ‘OK compost HOME’ standards. This ensures complete biodegradability even in your garden compost heap, although the time it takes to degrade may vary from one location to another due to temperature and climate differences in different regions of even England, let alone the world. Testing indicates that this product will typically degrade in a year or more, depending on local conditions.
